The Chicago Bears agreed on Thursday to acquire defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans, according to UPI, CBS Sports, and the New York Post. Multiple outlets reported that the Titans will receive first-round NFL Draft picks in 2027 and 2028, alongside a fourth-round pick in 2027. UPI reported that Chicago will also receive a fifth-round draft selection in 2028. [1][2][3][5]

Simmons, 29, was selected 19th overall by Tennessee in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Mississippi State. CBS Sports described him as a four-time Pro Bowler, whereas the New York Post noted he is a two-time All-Pro selection. UPI reported that the eight-year veteran signed a three-year, $105.9 million contract extension with Tennessee in June that runs through 2030. [1][3][5][13]

The Daily Mail reported that the Bears previously attempted to acquire DeForest Buckner before Indianapolis traded him to San Francisco. Through seven weeks of the season, UPI reported that the Chicago defense surrendered the eighth-fewest yards per game in the NFL. [1][2]

The move comes after the Tennessee Titans started their season 0-5, as FTMQ News reported earlier. Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears improved their record to 5-2 following a 30 to 24 victory over the New England Patriots. [16][17]
