Brazilian presidential candidate Senator Flavio Bolsonaro can resume visiting his arrested father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, after receiving authorization from Brazil's Supreme Court on Monday. Justice Alexandre de Moraes issued the ruling following a request filed by Jair Bolsonaro's defense team on October 5, UPI reported. [1]
The court's decision came after a 90-day suspension imposed on the senator for previously violating court restrictions expired on Sunday, according to UPI. Federal prosecutors supported the decision, stating in a filing released Tuesday that there was no evidence of further violations of court restrictions by Senator Flavio Bolsonaro. [1]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, Senator Flavio Bolsonaro is set to face President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in an election runoff on October 25. The Supreme Court judge who authorized the visits, Justice Alexandre de Moraes, previously issued an arrest warrant for Senator Bolsonaro's brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro, who was convicted on trial lobbying charges. Brazil is the largest country in South America and holds its national capital in Brasilia, where the Supreme Court issued its ruling. [1][6]
