The campaign of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva accused social media company Meta of election interference on Saturday after his posts were allegedly blocked on the platform. France 24 and the Hindustan Times reported that Meta has been given 48 hours to clarify and respond to the claims that it restricted campaign content. Firstpost, The Hindu and Malay Mail also reported that the accusations follow restrictions placed on the president's social media posts. [1][2][3][6][10]

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is seeking a fourth non-consecutive term in office. France 24 reported that he will face Senator Flavio Bolsonaro in a run-off election scheduled for October 25. Senator Bolsonaro is a right-wing politician and the son of former President Jair Bolsonaro. [1][13]

Lula da Silva is a member of the Workers' Party who served as president of Brazil from 2003 to 2011, and returned to office in 2023. As FTMQ News reported earlier, the presidential campaign reached a close contest after polls showed his lead narrowing during the first round of voting. [11][12][13]
