Andy Burnham to become first prime minister to appear on Gogglebox

Prime Minister Andy Burnham will become the first prime minister to appear on the television show Gogglebox on Friday. The Guardian, Deadline, PinkNews, Little Black Book, and The Independent all reported that he is joining a special celebrity edition of the Channel 4 series. He will review the television programmes of the week alongside his close friend Steve Rotheram, the mayor of the Liverpool city region. [1][2][3][4][5]

The Guardian reported that the special appearance was filmed at 10 Downing Street. A trailer for the upcoming broadcast shows Burnham taking part in a lengthy discussion about crisps. The special episode is being broadcast in aid of the charity campaign Stand Up To Cancer. Other guests set to feature in the broadcast include members of the pop band Sugababes. [1][4]

Gogglebox originally premiered on Channel 4 on 7 March 2013 and went on to become one of the most successful series on the network. Studio Lambert produces the programme, which was created by Stephen Lambert, Tania Alexander, and Tim Harcourt. Comedian and actor Craig Cash provides the narration for the show, having taken over the voiceover role following the death of Caroline Aherne in July 2016. [8]
