Leo Terrell, the chairman of the Justice Department antisemitism task force, has launched a 15-city nationwide tour to combat antisemitism, Fox News reported on Thursday. The American Tour Against Hate brings officials from the FBI and the Department of Justice directly into local Jewish communities facing unaddressed threats. [1]
Terrell told Fox News Digital that local leaders have frequently failed to respond while Jewish Americans encounter threats in their workplaces, schools, and places of worship. He stated that the objective of the tour is to go directly to where the problems exist, address community needs, and deliver federal support. [1]
Terrell is a civil rights attorney and talk radio host based in Los Angeles, California. President Donald Trump announced his intention in January 2025 to appoint Terrell as Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division in the Department of Justice. Terrell was born in 1955 and grew up in Los Angeles. [3][5]
The initiative follows previous actions by the Trump administration to address civil rights issues on campuses. As FTMQ News reported earlier, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill reached a settlement with federal officials in October to resolve 18 federal probes concerning campus antisemitism and race discrimination allegations.
