The United States Department of Justice is investigating several major television networks over whether they violated federal competition laws when they suspended presidential pool coverage, BBC News reported. The agency asked ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and Fox News to provide records of communications regarding the White House television pool system. [1]
According to BBC News, the pool system allows television networks to rotate coverage of the president and share footage, photos, and reports with other media outlets. The networks temporarily suspended the shared system for several days last month after the White House blocked CNN, MS Now, and Politico from access. [1]
The Department of Justice, led by Attorney General Pam Bondi, previously launched an inquiry in July 2025 into officials connected to the Crossfire Hurricane counterintelligence investigation, accusing participants of treasonous conspiracy against Donald Trump. [2]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, the department has also faced recent legal scrutiny in other areas, including a ruling by United States District Judge Sparkle Sooknanan that declared its efforts to compel state voter rolls unconstitutional. [3]
