United States President Donald Trump announced an immediate energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, according to Euronews and Yahoo News UK. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the agreement was news to him as he addressed delegates at the Warsaw Security Forum in Poland. [1][6]
Euronews reported that Donald Trump also called for Ukraine to replace Volodymyr Zelenskyy. At the same time, Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braze addressed security concerns as Baltic nations remained on alert, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sought to secure continued support from European partners. [1]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, Donald Trump announced a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin to temporarily lift sanctions on United States imports of Russian diesel. Volodymyr Zelenskyy subsequently accused Russia of violating the claimed energy ceasefire after Russian strikes hit a Ukrainian power plant. [9][10]
In previous peace negotiations during the Russo-Ukrainian war, Vladimir Putin demanded that Ukraine never join NATO and requested recognition of occupied territories, according to Wikipedia. Volodymyr Zelenskyy has consistently sought a ceasefire alongside a full withdrawal of Russian troops. [8]
