US President Donald Trump concluded his midterm campaign efforts on Sunday with rallies in Salina, Kansas, and Dubuque, Iowa, Euronews reported. Around Prague also reported that Trump visited Iowa and Kansas as midterms approached. During a two hour speech, Trump insisted that Republicans were on the verge of sweeping victories and urged voters to elect America first Republicans, according to Euronews. [1][11]

The campaign visits come as Republicans face strong political competition in both Iowa and Kansas while Democrats seek to regain control of Congress, Euronews reported. Political polling by NBC News indicated that voters are demanding change and seeking a check on the president, creating a steep advantage for Democrats. However, a Reuters Ipsos poll showed Trump approval rising from a record low to 32 percent ahead of the vote, NBC News reported. [1][4]

At the same time, internal discord has disrupted the Democratic strategy in Michigan. Euronews, Around Prague, and CBS News all reported that public divisions emerged among Michigan Democrats. The Washington Post and r politics reported that the party chair announced Representative Haley Stevens is no longer a member of the Michigan Democratic Party. [1][5][7][8][11]

The split followed actions surrounding the Michigan Senate race. The Guardian reported that Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed disinvited former Democratic rival Haley Stevens from a Senate rally. Al Jazeera later reported that Trump praised Stevens after she endorsed Republican candidate Mike Rogers in the Senate race, while Trump invited Stevens to join the Republican Party. [6][9][12][16]

The recent clashes follow earlier friction in the state. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Senator Bernie Sanders had previously campaigned alongside El-Sayed in Grand Rapids, while Trump held a competing rally in Port Huron. With internal disputes spilling into public view across Michigan, Democrats face potential challenges to their goal of retaking control of the Senate, according to Euronews and CBS News. [1][8][16]
