Federal prosecutors in Michigan have added four more defendants to an indictment targeting anti Israel activists, bringing the total number of individuals charged to 12. According to the New York Post, the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Michigan stated that 24 year old Mariam Odeh was among those originally indicted. [1]

The New York Post reported that Odeh previously worked on the campaign of Democratic politician Abdul El-Sayed. Prosecutors alleged that Odeh and seven other activists threatened University of Michigan officials in an effort to pressure the university into cutting its ties with Israel. [1]

Federal authorities also alleged that Odeh was part of a group that vandalized a Rolls Royce Solutions America, Inc. facility in Detroit during 2024. The New York Post reported that Odeh had been charged initially in June 2024 before additional co-conspirators were named on Friday. [1]

Abdul El-Sayed is an epidemiologist and public health administrator who is the Democratic nominee in the 2026 United States Senate election in Michigan. As FTMQ News reported earlier, former President Barack Obama has previously campaigned in Michigan to support El-Sayed's Senate bid. [12][15]
