Three foreign nationals face federal charges after allegedly using artificial intelligence to steal about 129 million dollars from businesses. UPI, CBS News, AP News, and The Times of Israel all reported that prosecutors filed charges in New York against the three men. The suspects allegedly used artificial intelligence technology to target corporate victims across the globe. [1][2][3][4]

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York identified the defendants as Jacob Soall, 41, Sharon Hazan, 54, and Guy Sheetrit, 42, according to UPI and CBS News. Soall holds citizenship in Britain and resides in Marbella, Spain, while Hazan is an Israeli citizen. Sheetrit holds citizenship in Israel and the United Arab Emirates, UPI reported. [1][2]

The suspects targeted thousands of companies over more than a year and a half, according to an indictment reported by CBS News. Prosecutors said the defendants used artificial intelligence tools to call companies while impersonating corporate executives and attorneys, UPI and CBS News reported. The scheme involved using synthetic voices to trick businesses into making unauthorized transfers. [1][2][3]

UPI reported that the defendants face seven offenses listed in a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, including fraud, aggravated identity theft, and money laundering. CBS News added that the federal indictment specifically includes charges of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. [1][2]
