The Plaza Hotel in New York City will close in January 2027 to begin a four year restoration project on its exterior, Euronews and People.com reported. The work on the historic façade is scheduled to take at least four years to finish. [1][2]

In a statement, the management of The Plaza Hotel stated that the restoration reflects the difficulty of maintaining a property with significant architectural and historical value. Management added that the project will focus on preservation requirements, long term maintenance, and the safety of guests, staff, and the community. [1]

The Plaza Hotel is a luxury hotel and condominium building located at 768 Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, at the southeastern corner of Central Park. The property first opened on Fifth Avenue in 1907. Since 2018, the hotel has been owned by the Qatari firm Katara Hospitality. [1][4]
