Former police officer remanded in custody for rapes in Shetland

A police officer has been remanded in custody after being convicted of raping a woman and a teenage girl in Shetland, the Daily Mail reported. Carmichael John Williamson, aged 32, was found guilty by a jury at the High Court in Edinburgh of three charges of rape and a further sexual offence against a 15-year-old girl. [1]

Williamson, who lived in Burra, had denied the allegations and remained on bail throughout his trial. The Daily Mail reported that he appeared visibly upset as officers led him from the dock in handcuffs after the jury delivered the guilty verdicts. [1]
