Gardaí have launched an investigation following an overnight break-in at St Anne's church in Cork city. The Irish Examiner reported that police received a report of a burglary at the site that occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Sunday. [1]
Church officials announced on social media that the property suffered an overnight break-in. As a direct result of the incident, the historic Cork tower was scheduled to close immediately following its 10:15 a.m. service on Sunday. [1]
The 18th-century Anglican church is situated in the Shandon area of the city. The building features five stained-glass windows and a stone baptismal font retrieved from a previous church that was destroyed during the Siege of Cork in 1690. [1]
