Former England bowler Stuart Broad has stated that Lancashire were pretty disrespectful in how they handled the departure of legendary bowler James Anderson, BBC News and BBC Sport reported. Anderson, who is 44 years old, was released by the county after first representing them in 2001. Broad added that the situation demonstrates a clear lack of leadership at the county cricket club. [1][2][4][5]

The decision was delivered to Anderson last week during a meeting with chief executive Richard Kenyon and Paul Farbrace, BBC News reported. Farbrace recently moved from Sussex and has not officially started his new role at Lancashire. BBC News added that the club did not officially comment on the matter until Sunday. [1]

Lancashire club hierarchy faced anger from supporters during a tense members meeting at Old Trafford on Monday evening, according to BBC Sport and the Daily Mail. Members expressed upset that the end of season timing denied fans the opportunity to say goodbye to the bowler. BBC Sport reported that the club is now considering organising a farewell event for Anderson following the unrest. [1][2][3]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, Anderson expressed sadness on social media after being informed that his contract would not be renewed, though he did not announce his retirement from cricket. Anderson has since joined the Napoli Knights in a new Italian T10 franchise tournament as a co-owner alongside former county team-mate Luke Sutton, the Daily Mail reported. [3][11]
