An 86-year-old sailor and his one-eyed dog were rescued nearly 500 miles off the San Diego coast last month, the New York Post reported. Harry Blodgett and his dog, Sasha, were lost at sea for almost two months while attempting a 5,000-mile journey across the Pacific Ocean. [1]

Blodgett set sail aboard his vessel, the Willow Wind, from Astoria, Oregon, in August. The New York Post reported that he was attempting to reach Pago Pago in American Samoa, located approximately 5,000 miles to the south, before disappearing. [1]

The sailor stated that he has no regrets about the ill-fated voyage despite nearly dying. According to the New York Post, Blodgett explained that the Pacific trek was the final item remaining on his bucket list. [1]
