Two fathers in San Diego confronted adults at a local home after their children received psychedelic mushroom gummies in their Halloween bags, the New York Post reported. Cameron Hunter and his friend Frank Carey took their children trick-or-treating in the Ocean Beach neighborhood before discovering the drugs at home. [1]
According to the New York Post, the parents noticed iridescent bags containing psilocybin-laced candy inside the trick-or-treat bags. One bag contained approximately 5 grams of psilocybin, an amount capable of causing a severe reaction. [1]
The two parents returned to the home where they believed their children received the mushrooms and recorded the confrontation, the New York Post reported. One of the parents was recorded telling the residents that the items contained drugs. [1]
Halloween traditions trace back more than 2,000 years to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. As FTMQ News reported earlier, police in Lincoln City, Oregon, also responded to Halloween incidents after masked thieves forcibly stole trick-or-treat bags from children. [6][7]
