Two conservative activists have been charged with unlawful voting and identity theft after filming an undercover stunt at a Minnesota polling place, BBC News reported. Prosecutors alleged that James Edward O'Keefe and Cam Higby tried to sow doubt in the voting systems of the state after sharing a video of their actions. [1]
According to BBC News, prosecutors alleged that the two men wore Islamic attire, used fake accents, and gave election judges the names of registered voters without the knowledge or permission of those voters. Higby told BBC News that he intended to expose vulnerabilities in the voting system, and he claimed that the state is attempting to target them. [1]
The charges come amid heightened focus on voting integrity ahead of the United States midterm elections on November 3, 2026. As FTMQ News reported earlier, the Justice Department recently charged 48 non-United States citizens across five states with federal election crimes, including illegal voting and voter fraud. [2][3]
