Serj Tankian Joins Tom Morello at Power to the People Festival

System of a Down lead vocalist Serj Tankian joined festival organizer Tom Morello on stage at the Power to the People Festival, Consequence and Consequence of Sound reported. The duo performed two songs together, including their recent collaborative single Adjourn It and a cover of Audioslave's Like a Stone. [1][4]

According to Consequence, Morello dedicated the cover of Like a Stone to late Audioslave and Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell. Morello stated during the performance that if Cornell was still alive, he would be present at the festival with them. [1]

Rolling Stone reported that Morello launched the Power to the People festival in October following the release of his album Everyone Gets Everything They Want. Earlier in the year, Morello participated in a protest concert in Minneapolis and performed on an anti-Trump tour with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. [2]

Tankian is an Armenian-American musician best known as the lead vocalist and primary lyricist of System of a Down, which formed in 1994. Morello is an American guitarist and political activist known for his work with the rock bands Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. [5][6]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, the Power to the People Festival also featured a tribute set to Soundgarden performed by musicians including Taylor Momsen, Mike McCready, and Matt Cameron. [8]
