An all-star group including Jack Black, Darryl DMC McDaniels, Cypress Hill, Tom Morello, Public Enemy's Chuck D, and Anthrax's Scott Ian performed Walk This Way at the Power to the People festival, Consequence reported. The event took place on Saturday at the Merriweather Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. [1]
Consequence detailed that McDaniels rapped the verses during the one-time-only collaboration, while Black sang the main chorus using a scarf-decorated microphone stand mimicking Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler. [1]
Written by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Walk This Way was originally released as an Aerosmith single in 1975 before a 1986 cover by hip-hop group Run-D.M.C. popularized the rap rock subgenre. Morello, known for his work with Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, launched the festival following the release of his album Everyone Gets Everything They Want, Rolling Stone and FTMQ News reported. That Eric Alper reported that the festival was made available to a global audience through a free livestream. [5]
