Sergio Garcia has confirmed his departure from LIV Golf and plans to rejoin the DP World Tour, as BBC News, Sky Sports, Golfmagic, Golf Channel, and Golf Monthly all reported. The Spanish golfer stated that he aims to make a return to the Ryder Cup team. [1][2][3][4][5][6]

BBC News reported that Garcia previously broke DP World Tour rules when he joined LIV Golf, which led to sanctions and made him ineligible for the 2023 Ryder Cup. To regain eligibility for the 2025 event, Garcia had to settle outstanding fines that were reported to be over 1 million pounds, although he was ultimately not chosen for the team. [1]

In a statement cited by BBC News, Garcia expressed that strengthening personal relationships, both new and old, is the most exciting part for him. He has helped Europe to six victories across 10 Ryder Cup appearances and is the all-time record points scorer for the event. The Ryder Cup is a biennial men's golf competition contested between teams from Europe and the United States. [1][7]

Sky Sports, Golfmagic, Golf Channel, and Golf Monthly all reported that Garcia is also open-minded about a potential return to the PGA Tour. According to BBC News, Garcia now hopes to return to the European camp at Adare Manor in Ireland as either a player or a vice-captain. [1][3][4][5][6]
