The DP World Tour has banned LIV Golf players from participating in its events as the rival league faces Chapter 11 bankruptcy. ABC News Australia, the New York Post, and Fox News all report that the European Tour delivered an ultimatum saying players who join the new version of LIV Golf will not be allowed to remain tour members. [1][2][4]

DP World Tour Chief Executive Guy Kinnings said in a statement first reported by the BBC that players need to make a choice, noting that the tour has rules and regulations to protect its circuit. ABC News Australia and the New York Post both reported his statement. In previous years, the tour allowed players to participate in LIV events if they paid fines for conflicting tournaments. [2][4]

The decision comes as LIV Golf undergoes financial difficulties. As FTMQ News reported earlier, LIV Golf filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund stopped funding the league. Fox News reported that golfer Jon Rahm called the proposed LIV 2.0 restructuring plan unacceptable. [1][16]

Meanwhile, BBC Sport reported that golfer Rory McIlroy said he would vote to allow LIV Golf players back onto the PGA Tour. McIlroy stated that he believes the breakaway circuit is no longer a threat to traditional golf tours. [5]
