The election forecaster Sabato's Crystal Ball altered its ratings for 28 House races on Tuesday, pushing the total number of seats rated as leans Democratic past 218. The Washington Examiner reported that the forecast projects Democrats will gain at least 218 seats in the upcoming midterm elections, which would secure them a majority in the House of Representatives. [1]
The shifts in the race ratings come exactly two weeks before the midterm elections, which will decide if Democrats regain control of the House from Republicans. Sabato's Crystal Ball is a free online newsletter and electoral analysis website published by the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia. Larry Sabato founded the center and works as a political scientist and professor at the university. [1][3]
Separately, Democratic strategist James Carville expressed concern over a potentially narrow Democratic victory. Fox News reported that Carville stated during an interview on The Bulwark Takes on Sunday that he would prefer Republicans keep the House by five seats rather than Democrats winning by five seats, fearing the Democratic Party would become hostages to the Democratic Socialists of America.
