Republican candidate Mike Rogers criticized his Democratic opponent Abdul El-Sayed on Monday during a town hall with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Fox News reported. Rogers warned Michigan voters against what he called an extreme agenda, accusing El-Sayed of a pattern of deception and claiming that he is a manufactured candidate. Fox News reported that Rogers accused his rival of calling to defund the police and let criminals out of prison. [1]

The campaign clash comes as polls show a close contest in the state. Crypto Briefing reported that El-Sayed holds a lead over Rogers that remains within the margin of error, while Newsradio 600 KOGO noted that Rogers claims voters in Michigan are worried about his opponent. [3][4]

Fact-checking and campaign issues have added further tension to the race. PolitiFact reported that Rogers was incorrect when he claimed El-Sayed had not disavowed the Muslim Brotherhood, while Bridge Michigan reported that El-Sayed disavowed the group in response to political claims. [6][7]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee spent over $30 million against El-Sayed during the primary and nearly $95,000 in the general election. FTMQ News also previously reported that El-Sayed acknowledged his sister-in-law was a plaintiff in a 2016 federal terrorist watchlist lawsuit shortly before scheduled campaign appearances with former President Barack Obama.
