United States Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer marked Democratic victories in the midterm elections on Wednesday morning by posting an edited photograph on Instagram. The New York Post reported that the Brooklyn Democrat shared an image of himself beside a smoking propane grill with burgers and hot dogs depicting the faces of defeated Republicans, President Donald Trump, and Vice President JD Vance. [1]
The New York Post reported that Schumer wrote, "54 seats and counting. And I learned how to grill...these burgers and dogs are finally cooked." The publication noted that the image referenced a Father's Day 2024 photograph of Schumer at a grill, which had previously drawn widespread public mockery. [1]
Addressing the election outcomes, LEADERSHIP Newspapers reported that Schumer declared that Republicans made a choice and followed Donald Trump over the cliff. [2]
The election victory follows earlier concerns within the party. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Schumer had warned colleagues three weeks before Election Day that nearly 1 billion dollars in Republican spending across nine states posed a severe threat to Democratic Senate candidates. [4]
