Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss the rest of the 2026 NFL season due to blood clots in his lungs, UPI, the Daily Mail, ESPN and Yahoo Sports reported on October 19. A source told UPI that Hurts is expected to miss three months of action while undergoing medical treatment. The Eagles and his agent, Nicole Lynn, stated that he received medical evaluations by physician experts in recent days and that his prognosis is very good. [1][6][8][9]

The Eagles detailed that Hurts was initially diagnosed with a superficial vein thrombosis in his left calf, the New York Post reported. Further medical testing revealed that he had a deep vein condition, and additional blood clots were discovered in his lungs. Fox News reported that the blood clot began moving, leading the Eagles to place Hurts on injured reserve. [2][3][6]

Before his health issue, Hurts threw eight touchdowns in five starts for the Eagles during the 2026 season, according to UPI. HELLO Magazine reported that his football season ended six weeks into the schedule. [1][11]

Hurts is an American professional football quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. He played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Oklahoma Sooners before entering the NFL. [13]
