The Daily Mail reported that Jonathan Gatto, aged 42, was arrested after police in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, investigated the death of his wife, Dr. Julia Pederson. Firefighters found the 41-year-old pediatrician dead around 7:05 a.m. on Saturday inside a home on the 2900 block of Green Street, approximately 100 miles west of Philadelphia. [1]

Harrisburg police determined that the fatal injuries were not caused by the fire itself, according to the Daily Mail. Prosecutors allege that Gatto strangled Pederson to death before setting her body on fire. The couple's seven-year-old daughter was sleeping nearby at the time of the incident. [1]

During a police interview, Gatto allegedly stated that the couple intended to separate due to marital difficulties, the Daily Mail reported. He told officers that they were in the process of deciding how to share the news of their separation with their daughter. [1]

Pederson worked as a pediatrician for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, according to the Daily Mail. Authorities have not released further details regarding the ongoing legal proceedings or court dates. [1]
