Republican donor Eric Deters has filed a defamation lawsuit against former United States Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle after allegations involving text messages between the two surfaced, according to reports from CBS News and the Washington Examiner. The Washington Examiner and the Daily Mail reported that the text messages involved allegations that Guilfoyle asked Deters to pay off a credit card bill. [2][4][7]

Former Fox News host Lisa Montgomery alleged in a Daily Mail article that Guilfoyle openly talked about her sex life and showed explicit photographs while working at the network, the New York Post reported. Montgomery stated that Guilfoyle flaunted a relationship with a man she referred to as Lex Luthor and described as a cash cow, according to the New York Post. [1]

Guilfoyle served as the United States ambassador to Greece from 2025 until her resignation in 2026, and previously worked as an advisor and fundraising lead for the 2020 Donald Trump presidential campaign. As FTMQ News reported earlier, the White House requested Guilfoyle's resignation following allegations that she sought payment from a donor to cover a 100,000 dollar credit card bill. [7][10][15]

Following her departure from the diplomatic position, Democrats are calling for investigations into the former ambassador, CNN reported. Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio reminded American diplomats to avoid improper behavior, according to CBS News. [3][4]
