More than 100 adults gathered outside a district girls cross country meet in Camas, Washington, to protest against a transgender competitor, Fox News reported. The demonstration took place as Initiative 638 looms in the state. Steve Lynch, who coached cross country and track for 24 years, held a sign offering to explain the differences between girls and boys. [1]
During the protest outside the Camas High event, a passing jogger shouted abusive remarks and obscenities at Mr Lynch regarding his sign, according to Fox News. The demonstrator reported that the jogger yelled statements about violence toward religious and transgender groups before running away. [1]
The protest follows earlier events in the same city, as FTMQ News reported earlier. About a dozen Camas High School girls previously walked out of a cross country race over a transgender teammate. Organizer Amy Sousa planned the Camas Courage rally for October 21 following that walkout. Ms Sousa previously organized rallies supporting WNBA player Sophie Cunningham. [3]
The Girl Scouts of the United States of America is an unrelated youth organization for girls founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low, according to Wikipedia. The group was established a year after Ms Low met Scouting America founder Robert Baden-Powell. [2]
