Supporters of Camas High School cross country runners are planning a rally next week after about a dozen female students walked out of a race over a transgender teammate, Fox News reported. Organizer Amy Sousa is leading the Camas Courage event to support the students. [1]
According to Fox News, the rally is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. It will take place at 2600 NW Lake Road in Camas, Washington. Sousa urged adults to take the pressure off the high school athletes. [1]
Fox News reported that Sousa previously organized rallies supporting Sophie Cunningham after Cunningham took a stance against transgender athletes competing in girls sports during the recent WNBA season. [1]
The event follows previous disputes over transgender sports participation in the state. As FTMQ News reported earlier, a lawsuit and emergency filing were recently submitted to the United States Supreme Court involving a female wrestler in the Puyallup School District. [1][5]
