France 24 reported that Russia refused to extend the truce. DW and the South China Morning Post noted that the pause, which began on Tuesday, was brokered by United States First Lady Melania Trump. BBC News stated that hundreds of thousands were left without power, whereas DW reported tens of thousands were affected. Some electrical connections were restored on Sunday, according to BBC News.
