Lewis Hamilton secured his first pole position for Ferrari and his first in more than three years at the Mexico City Grand Prix, BBC News reported. The seven time world champion edged out Mercedes driver George Russell by 0.009 seconds to lock out the front row. BBC News and Sky Sports both reported that Hamilton claimed the top starting spot ahead of Russell. [1][8][9]

Kimi Antonelli qualified in fifth place behind Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc and Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, according to BBC News. Verstappen received a one place penalty, which moves Antonelli up to fourth place on the starting grid. The Guardian and BBC News both reported that Antonelli will start the race from fourth position. [1][11]

The Mexico City Grand Prix is hosted at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City, which is under contract to hold the event until 2028. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Charles Leclerc had set the fastest time during Friday practice at the circuit, while Antonelli entered the race weekend leading the driver championship with 365 points. BBC News reported that Antonelli can be stopped from securing the world championship on Sunday under only two scenarios. The title fight will continue if Russell wins the race and Antonelli finishes lower than ninth place, or if Hamilton wins the race. [1]
