George Russell sets fastest lap in Singapore Grand Prix practice session

Mercedes driver George Russell set the fastest lap time in the only practice session at the Singapore Grand Prix, BBC News, Formula 1, Sky Sports, Crash.net, and PlanetF1 all report. According to BBC News, McLaren driver Lando Norris recorded the third fastest time, 0.273 seconds behind Russell, while Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton finished fourth. McLaren driver Oscar Piastri was fifth fastest. The top five drivers set their fastest times using soft compound tyres. [1]

Russell is a British racing driver who has won eight Formula One Grands Prix across eight seasons for Mercedes, while Leclerc is a Monégasque driver with nine career Grand Prix victories for Ferrari. As FTMQ News reported earlier, Russell expects to take a grid penalty later in the season after an engine failure forced changes to his power unit allocation before the race weekend in Singapore.
