Lewis Hamilton said Ferrari need to hold serious talks behind closed doors after an incident with team-mate Charles Leclerc cost them victory at the Mexico City Grand Prix, BBC News reported. Leclerc cut a chicane on the first lap to pass Hamilton, which led to Hamilton losing second position to Max Verstappen. Verstappen went on to win the race, while Hamilton finished second and Kimi Antonelli finished third. [1]

Hamilton stated that the internal fight ultimately cost the team the race win, according to BBC News. Red Bull driver Max Verstappen took the victory ahead of Hamilton. Kimi Antonelli finished third in the race to become the youngest world champion in Formula 1 history. [1]

The result followed qualifying at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez where Hamilton secured his first pole position for Ferrari, as FTMQ News reported earlier. Al Jazeera, The Guardian, and the Daily Mail all reported that Hamilton beat George Russell to take pole position, with the Daily Mail noting it was his 105th career pole and his first since 2023. Antonelli started the race from fourth place on the grid after qualifying fifth and moving up following a penalty for Verstappen, as FTMQ News reported earlier. Al Jazeera reported that Antonelli needed only a ninth-place finish in the race to secure the drivers' championship. [2][13]
