Bleacher Report and Yahoo Sports both reported that James called the scrimmage a great first step for the new-look roster ahead of the 2026-27 season. Yahoo Sports noted that James admitted he remains uncertain about his exact offensive role following nearly a week of practice with his new teammates. However, Yahoo Sports added that the forward made it clear he is willing to adapt to whatever the team requires. [1][3][5]

Yahoo Sports reported that James provided one of the biggest highlights of the scrimmage and demonstrated plenty of explosiveness ahead of the 2026-27 NBA campaign. According to Yahoo Sports and PHLY Sports, the scrimmage reinforced the tone that the team president said James is setting during training camp. James also spoke at his first press conference in a 76ers uniform following the event, according to Yahoo Sports. [1][4][6][7][8]
