Jordan wants the trial of murder suspect Ahmad al-Saqar to be held in the Middle East, according to reports from the Irish Independent and Independent.ie. Diplomatic negotiations are currently ongoing over the matter. Ireland is continuing to push for the extradition of al-Saqar to face trial over the death of United States mother Jamey Carney in Killarney, County Kerry. [1][2]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, 43-year-old American mother Jamey Carney was found dead at her home in Killarney on July 7. Her former boyfriend, named as Ahmad al-Saqar or Ahmed Al Saqar, left Ireland for Turkey hours before her body was discovered. He was later arrested and detained in Jordan. [12][13]

The latest reports from the Irish Independent and Independent.ie show that extraditing the suspect remains a subject of international talks. Irish Justice Minister Jim O Callaghan previously stated that police hoped to question the suspect in Jordan through mutual assistance mechanisms, as FTMQ News reported earlier. [1][2][12][13]

The Middle East is a geopolitical region that generally encompasses Egypt and West Asia, except for the Caucasus. Extradition talks remain active as Irish authorities seek to bring the suspect to trial for the killing. [2][9]
