Israeli President Isaac Herzog announced that he will state on Sunday, 8 November, whom he will task with forming a new government. France 24 reported that the decision comes after post-election talks between the president and all political party leaders. [1]
According to France 24, 67 members of parliament recommended Benjamin Netanyahu's opponent Gadi Eisenkot to form the administration. By contrast, 46 members of parliament recommended Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. [1]
As FTMQ News reported earlier, President Herzog officially received the election results from the Central Elections Committee on Wednesday after officials certified the results of an inconclusive general election. Herzog then launched consultations with political parties to break the deadlock. [5]
Isaac Herzog has served as the president of Israel since 2021. The thirty-sixth government of Israel was succeeded on 29 December 2022 by the thirty-seventh government, which was led by Benjamin Netanyahu. [2][5]
