The General Secretary of the Irish National Teachers' Organisation has confirmed that primary school teachers will hold a second strike this month. The Journal reported that the move comes amid an ongoing public sector pay dispute. [1]

Primary school teachers who belong to the union began a work-to-rule on Tuesday. According to The Journal, this is part of wider industrial action that involves more than 100,000 public sector workers. [1]

The industrial action coincides with final preparations for the Irish budget. Coalition leaders signed off on Budget 2027 late on Monday night ahead of an announcement scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, The Journal reported. [1]

Government leaders also agreed to increase the Help to Buy tax rebate for first-time buyers by 5,000 euros. Talks in Government Buildings concluded on Monday night following the agreement, according to The Journal. [1]
