House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer stated that a winery co-owned by Tim Mynett, the husband of Representative Ilhan Omar, was closed amid fraud allegations. Fox News, Traders Union, PJ Media, and The Western Journal reported that the winery, eStCru, allegedly sold empty barrels to investors under the guise of wine to be aged. [1][8][9][10]

Fox News reported that James Comer told Trey Gowdy on Sunday Night in America that an initial investigation into Omar's financial disclosure forms revealed huge discrepancies. Comer added that there are multiple areas where a search warrant could be issued. The Daily Mail and Fox News Digital reported that federal agents recently obtained Omar's personal passport and DNA evidence during a raid on her Washington, D.C., home. [1][2][3][4]

Fox News Digital reported that Omar's older sister, Sahra Noor, voluntarily spoke with federal investigators following the search on the home Omar shares with her husband. The Daily Mail reported that agents issued more than a dozen grand jury subpoenas and seized Omar's phone. Investigators are looking into whether Omar's late father lied on immigration forms, according to the New York Times cited by the Daily Mail. [2][3][4]

Omar has served as the U.S. representative for Minnesota's 5th congressional district as a member of the Democratic Party since 2019. BBC News reported that former President Barack Obama criticized the federal search of Omar's home, calling the probe so appalling and describing it as an effort to intimidate a critic of Donald Trump.
