President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that Representative Ilhan Omar could face jail time or deportation during an event inside the Oval Office. Fox News and Al Jazeera reported that Trump made the comments in response to questions about a federal immigration fraud investigation into the Minnesota Democrat, calling her a disgrace to our country. [1][11]

The remarks follow a federal raid on the Washington, D.C., home that Omar shares with her husband. MSNBC and Fox News reported that federal agents searched the residence, while the Daily Mail reported that authorities seized her phone and issued more than a dozen grand jury subpoenas to her relatives. As FTMQ News reported earlier, White House border czar Tom Homan previously warned that Omar could face denaturalization and deportation if fraud is proven. [1][2][3][4][5][15]

Federal investigators have expanded their inquiry into Omar's family. Fox News reported that her older sister, Sahra Noor, voluntarily spoke with federal investigators following the search. Fox News also reported that Omar's daughter, Isra Hirsi, was seen entering the D.C. residence days after the raid, where Capitol Police were later called. [3][4]

Omar was born in Mogadishu, Somalia, and has served as the U.S. representative for Minnesota's 5th congressional district since 2019. The BBC reported that former President Barack Obama criticized the federal investigation into the congresswoman, calling the administration's actions appalling. [8][12][14][15]
