Hundreds attend funeral in Gaza for 75 victims recovered from rubble

A mass funeral was held in Gaza City on Sunday morning for 75 Palestinians whose remains were recently recovered from beneath destroyed buildings, Al Jazeera reported. Hundreds of people attended the procession before the bodies were buried at the Sheikh Radwan Cemetery. Anadolu Ajansı and TRT World also reported that the remains of 75 Palestinians were buried after being pulled from the rubble. [1][4][5]

According to the Health Ministry cited by Al Jazeera, most of the victims were from the Daraj neighbourhood in the northeastern part of Gaza City. Al Jazeera correspondent Nour Khaled reported that the majority of the recovered remains belonged to women and children who were killed inside their homes. [1]

The bodies were retrieved months after being trapped under destroyed homes and structures. The ongoing Gaza war began on 7 October 2023, when Hamas led an attack on Israel, resulting in the deaths of 1,195 Israelis and foreign nationals. [1][10]
