An Israeli military strike has destroyed a residential building in the Al-Rimal neighbourhood of Gaza City, sending flames and smoke into the air, Al Jazeera reported on October 10. The attack occurred one year into a ceasefire brokered by the United States. Al Jazeera noted that Palestinians continue to experience Israeli bombardment despite the agreement. [1]

Other news outlets reported further casualties across the region on the same day. Arab News reported that Israeli strikes killed five people in Gaza, citing medics. According to The Muslim News, Israeli attacks killed two people in Gaza, injured people in Lebanon through bombing, and targeted the West Bank olive harvest. IMEMC News reported that Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian child in Gaza. [4][5][6]

The latest strikes take place amidst ongoing regional conflict. According to Wikipedia, the Gaza war began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas led an attack on Israel. FTMQ News reported earlier that about 1,200 people were killed and around 250 taken hostage during the initial October 7 attack, while more than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed in the war that followed. [7][9][10]

The Independent reported that promises of peace remain distant as Israeli attacks persist one year after the ceasefire. Meanwhile, Anadolu Ajansı reported that a rally was held in Berlin marking three years of the conflict and calling for an end to the Israeli occupation. [2][3]
