The Central Council of Jews in Germany has opened a new Jewish academy in Frankfurt, DW reported. The umbrella group established the project to combat hate and to promote learning and dialogue across the nation. DW reported that the academy is the first institution of its kind in Germany. [1]
Organizers selected the western city of Frankfurt as a deliberate location for the institution, according to DW. The city is situated near a major local synagogue and close to the historic festival hall building. DW reported that Frankfurt has historically served as a center for Jewish intellectual life and remains one of Germany's key Jewish community centers alongside Berlin, Munich, and Düsseldorf. [1]
The initiative follows previous security concerns involving Jewish leadership in the country. As FTMQ News reported earlier, a court in Hamburg sentenced two men to prison terms of up to eight and a half years in October 2026 after finding them guilty of an Iranian plot targeting the president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany.
