Georgia moved to the number one position in national college football rankings after defeating Alabama 20 to 17, according to the Daily Mail. FOX Sports, The New York Times, and the New York Post all reported that Georgia jumped to the top spot following the victory, which ended a stretch of five straight poll appearances at number two. The weekend saw multiple high profile programs suffer major losses that led to significant drops in national rankings. According to FOX Sports, the New York Post, and The New York Times, Texas, LSU, and Oregon all fell in the rankings after lost games. CBS Sports reported that Texas dropped from the top spot in the Coaches Poll, while LSU fell out of the top 20. [2][4][6][7][10]

Fox News reported that LSU head coach Lane Kiffin had to be escorted past Kentucky fans who stormed the field following an overtime upset. Fox News also reported that Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko publicly criticized the TexAgs forum following his team's third loss of the season. [1]

The results come amid growing scrutiny over team investments and roster construction across college football programs. Fox News reported that fan bases and financial donors have expressed frustration after spending millions of dollars on high cost team rosters that have failed to produce expected returns. [1]
