The Kentucky Wildcats defeated tenth ranked LSU 35-34 in overtime on Saturday night in Lexington, Kentucky. The victory came after Kentucky answered an LSU overtime touchdown with a one-yard touchdown run and a successful two-point conversion. Fans stormed the field following the game to celebrate the upset. [1][3][10]

LSU took a 34-27 lead in overtime after taking two plays to score on its opening possession, Fox News and the New York Post both reported. Running back CJ Baxter answered with a one-yard touchdown run for Kentucky. Quarterback Kenneth Minchey then ran untouched into the end zone for the game-winning two-point conversion, according to the New York Post. [1][3]

Minchey stated after the game that he read the defense and noticed nobody was in the middle, prompting him to run the ball in himself. LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt scored earlier in the overtime drive for the Tigers, who fell to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the Southeastern Conference, the New York Post reported. [3]

Both teams had entered the game with 4-1 records before the matchup, CBS Sports reported prior to kickoff. Following the loss, LSU faces continued struggles on the road, which adds pressure to their College Football Playoff hopes, according to CBS Sports. [2][5]
