A woman has taken legal action against Aer Lingus in the High Court after falling while getting off a plane at Dublin Airport, Irish Examiner reported. Deirdre Burke, aged 66, from Craughwell, County Galway, suffered a significant fracture to her foot during the incident. The injury occurred while she was disembarking from Aer Lingus Flight EI 611, which had arrived from Amsterdam on September 22, 2019. [1]
According to the Irish Examiner, the court heard that the incident happened at night in almost total darkness. Deirdre Burke claimed that she misplaced her foot as she stepped onto mobile steps brought to the aircraft. The steps were allegedly positioned at a level lower than the floor of the plane. [1]
Aer Lingus is the flag carrier of Ireland and was established by the Irish government in 1936. The airline was privatised between 2006 and 2015 and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of International Airlines Group. Its head office is located on the grounds of Dublin Airport, which is operated by DAA and serves as the primary international airport for Dublin. [4][5]
