Former Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown has stated that he would not support an effort to impeach President Donald Trump. Brown is currently running to regain a United States Senate seat in Ohio after losing his re-election bid in 2024, Fox News reported. [1]
According to Fox News, Brown told the Columbus Dispatch that he sees no reason to support an impeachment process against Trump, regardless of what occurs in the upcoming midterm elections. If Democrats secure a majority in the House of Representatives during the midterms, they could potentially vote to impeach the president along party lines next year. Any approved impeachment charges would then be sent to the Senate for a trial. [1]
Trump is the 47th president of the United States and a member of the Republican Party, having previously served as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021. The United States Senate operates as the upper house of the legislature, where each state is allocated two seats. [9][10][11]
