President Donald Trump announced that his administration will issue $90 payments to more than 20 million seniors enrolled in Medicare. Fortune, The Hill, and Yahoo Finance all reported that the announcement was made late Friday on social media ahead of the November midterm elections. According to The Hill, the total payout will equal roughly $2 billion and is intended to offset Medicare Part B premium costs. [1][2][7]

The Hill reported that President Trump plans to source the funds from the Medicare Improvement Fund, which he described in a Truth Social post as pointless. Fortune noted that the Medicare plan follows a prior announcement last month offering $500 rebate checks for Affordable Care Act premiums to approximately 1 million people. [1][2][6]

President Trump has also repeatedly promised on the campaign trail to send a $5,000 dividend to every American adult if the Republican Party retains control of Congress. Fortune, BeInCrypto, The Times of India, Common Dreams, and LiveNOW from FOX all reported on the $5,000 proposal. Fortune reported that fulfilling the $5,000 pledge would require congressional approval and would likely cost over $1 trillion, adding significantly to the national deficit. [1][3][4][5][8]

Donald Trump serves as the 47th president of the United States and is a member of the Republican Party. His latest direct payment announcements come as voters prepare for the midterm elections on November 3. [1][9]
