Former President Barack Obama criticized President Donald Trump during a Democratic campaign event in Ohio on Saturday. Fox News and the New York Post reported that Obama mocked Trump's White House renovations, saying Trump had the historic residence looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory. [1][2][3]

The event took place in Cleveland 10 days before the midterm elections. Fox News reported that Obama appeared at the rally to support Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton and Senate candidate Sherrod Brown. Obama accused Trump of being more focused on home renovations and appearing on home improvement television than helping the American people. [1][2]

The New York Post reported that critics reacted to the comments by pointing out that Obama was behind his own presidential library project in Chicago. Additional outlets including the BBC, The Washington Post, CNN, and thejournal.ie reported that Obama's midterm rally appearances included broader criticisms of the Trump administration over economic costs and governance. [1][6][7][8][11]

As FTMQ News reported earlier, Obama previously accused the Trump administration of using federal agencies against political opponents. The Cheesecake Factory operates 370 full-service restaurants across multiple brands in the United States and maintains major production plants in California and North Carolina. [12][16]
