Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree ordering the compulsory seizure of Russian assets belonging to French flooring manufacturer Tarkett and four other European companies. Euronews, Reuters, and Ukrainska Pravda reported the move, which target firms that continued operating in Russia following the full scale invasion of Ukraine in early 2022. [1][5][6][9]

The decree affects five businesses in total, including a flooring manufacturer, a paper packaging firm, a hygiene products maker, and two metal and plastic packaging companies, according to Euronews. Euronews reported that the combined annual revenue of the targeted entities exceeds 50 billion roubles, or approximately 532 million euros. [1]

Euronews reported that the seized assets have been placed under the interim control of a management company named Centre Capital. The management company was registered in February 2026, according to Euronews. [1]

The asset seizures come as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky seeks to rally European allies at a summit in Brussels, according to RFI and the South China Morning Post. Ties between Kyiv and Washington have deteriorated after United States President Donald Trump eased sanctions on Russia, RFI reported. [2][3]
