Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that intelligence indicates Russia is preparing a massive fresh attack on Ukraine, the Independent reported. Speaking on October 6, Zelensky said that assistance from international partners, particularly in Europe and the United States, remains crucial to defending the country against the upcoming assault. Zelensky stressed that every country possessing necessary defensive capabilities must support Ukraine in order to withstand the planned Russian offensive, according to the Independent. He stated that a great deal depends on international leaders providing the military assets required by Kyiv. [1]
The warning comes after earlier Russian strikes in October, as FTMQ News reported earlier. Moscow previously damaged Kyiv's Northern Bridge across the Dnipro River and warned foreign diplomats to leave the capital ahead of major strikes. Russian attacks also recently struck cargo ships in the Black Sea and Odesa, resulting in casualties. [4][5]
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, initiating the largest conflict in Europe since World War II. Russian forces currently occupy approximately 20 percent of Ukrainian territory, which has led to tens of thousands of civilian casualties and displaced millions of people. [2]
